I watched a short video on YouTube of an artist named Matt C. Ellis talking about his Homeless Project. When he lived in Miami he became friends with many of the homeless people in which one of them was an artist as well. He then decided to make some murals of the faces of homeless people to bring awareness. He also did it to make people stop, think, and question their life. Everyone lives in a materialistic world rather than what we truly need. Matt wants to capture these raw faces (those of the homeless people) to show their true beauty compared to how people ideally see someone who puts so much makeup for a photo shoot as beautiful. This is just one of Matt's projects; he does not only do paintings, he also does print paintings and tattoos.
I can use this source for my presentation in many different ways. For one, I can use some of his art pieces to put in my PowerPoint. Matt himself is talking in the video so if I do use him I get statements and thoughts of his own; he says why he is doing this project giving straight facts. I can also take in some notes of what he stated to help with my proposal or just open up my thoughts of this social issue. The last thing I can do is cut up some parts of the video and add it as background sound of the presentation. Overall this video suits this project because he is an artist so I can just use his pieces or just take in his insight of the situation as an artist to help me come up with my own pieces.
