Part 1:
Original paragraph:
The first school I
attended was a public school in Los Angeles. In my eyes at that time the school
was huge and I believed that it went up to the twelfth grade. My mother put me
in preschool even though she wanted to keep me at home another year. She would
walk my sister and me to school every day. I remember walking up hill looking
at the plants people grew and the noise of kids talking and laughing the closer
we got. In the big rectangular classroom
I can remember seeing a huge colorful rug on the floor a fake kitchen, some
baby dolls, blocks, and other little activities. Outside the classroom we had a
play house and big gray jungle gym. Those were the only things I could
remember. At first I may have been shy in the class but not too long I was
talking to everyone and anyone. I was getting along with everyone and had no
problems. We did not only stay in the classroom but go on many “fieldtrips”
walking to the dentist, fire station, a local supermarket, the park and other
places to get the idea of the places and what people do there. I remained in
the school up to the first grade because my dad wanted to own a house of our
own (he was renting a house from his grandpa).

Part 2:
Panel 1 page 118 Reading just the text of the panel I would say that it is a superman speaking using the words "my super suit". In the text he is saying that if he wants to present some scientific information he should dress the proper attire to fit his character. Going more into depth he is comparing this to how you should write in different situations. Looking at the picture alone I would see it as a scientist in his lab performing tests with chemicals. The text and the picture obviously explain each other when being used together, but alone they both have different meanings. The text is more specific to where as the picture can lead you to different ideas.
