1. Read & Annotate 
2. Create an abstract in no more than 250 words 
3. Create an MLA formatted citation (refer to MLA sample info under handouts folder and also refer to purdueowl.com) 

Format 

1. MLA Heading
2. Title is title of article 
3. MLA Citation of article 
4. right below citation-  include the abstract

An Abstract Includes....

• A full citation of the source, preceding the abstract.
• The most important information first.
• The same type and style of language found in the original, including technical language.
• Key words and phrases that quickly identify the content and focus of the work.
• Clear, concise, and powerful language.

Abstract Components Include.... In this very order...literally this exact order (it is chronological based on exactly how the article is written)

1. Thesis/Main Argument 
2. Supporting evidence for the thesis in the same order as presented by the author 
3. Results of the research (if applicable) 
4. description of larger contribution
