Part 1:
Select one paragraph from your autobiography.
- Rewrite that paragraph using only simple sentences. This means that every sentence should only have one thought or idea in it. There will be no punctuation in this paragraph other than periods to end each simple sentence.
- Rewrite the same paragraph using only 1) semicolons or 2) commas and FANBOYS. This paragraph can only include these two types of punctuation.
In the end you will have three paragraphs: 1) the original 2) simple sentence paragraph 3) compound sentence paragraph.
Part 2:
Select one panel (scene) from the reading "Writing Identities." Compare and contrast the following things: 1) the idea that expressed using words and 2) the idea that is expressed using an image. Do the image and the words express the same thing? Different things, etc.
